Powered by TrueMotion, mobile app identifies risky behaviors and reinforces safe driving habits
BOSTON (October 25, 2017) – As part of its ongoing efforts to create safe driving habits among newer drivers, Safety Insurance today announced the launch of a new mobile app, Drive with Safety. Powered by TrueMotion, the leading provider of telematics solutions for the insurance industry, the iOS and Android compatible app identifies and shares information around distracted driving behaviors. Safety Insurance customers who download and use the app will both gain better insight into their teen driver’s behaviors and receive discounts on their premiums.
The Drive with Safety app engages families in becoming safer and more responsible drivers with impactful Distracted Driving information. Using the sensors built into most cell phones, the app captures distracted driving and other risky behaviors. Drive with Safety automatically provides scores for key driving behaviors during each trip, including: distracted driving (calls, texting, the use of other apps like email and social media); speeding, hard braking and driving during high risk periods (i.e., late at night). The app also provides the current location of each family member.

Each member of a family using the Drive with Safety app can see each other’s driving score, motivating them to drive responsibly, improve their scores and engage in discussions about safe driving.

According to a SafeKids report about 40 percent of teens say they have been in cars driven by other teens who were distracted while driving by texting or talking. TrueMotion’s proprietary data show teens are distracted about 20 percent more per trip than parents. Three in four people who download and install TrueMotion apps are found to reduce distracted driving.
