These are the auto insurance programs that focus on teen safety

September 13, 2018

There are a lot of things parents with teens worry about these days. But, among TrueMotion Family parents at least, texting and driving is at the top of the list. 78% of parents say texting and driving is a top concern for their teen. And only 17% think their insurance company is doing enough to fight the texting and driving epidemic.

Insurance change with teen safety programs

The problem is so big for these parents that 54% of them said they would likely switch insurance companies if they found one with a teen safety or distracted driving reduction program. Only 9% said they wouldn’t be interested.

To help, we’ve scoured the web for auto insurance programs that protect teens. Many of the big carriers offer them. They come in different varieties and approaches. Some focus on education and training while others focus on monitoring. TrueMotion powers the two teen programs that monitor distracted driving – American Family’s Teen Safe Driver and The Hanover’s SafeTeen.

Discounts range depending on the program. And some, like The Hanover’s SafeTeen, have perks beyond a discount like Amazon gift cards to reward safe driving. The biggest discounts we found for safe driving are from MAPFRE and State Farm at 15%. Other discounts may not be as enticing. Allstate’s gives you a discount on the device they send you for their Cellcontrol program. So you get driving monitoring for your teen, but you have to pay for it.

Below you’ll find the complete table of teen safety programs offered by insurers. Each program contains a link to the website where you can find more information. If you know of a program that isn’t included here, hit us up on chat.
